Join us for a field trip to the Brown Sugar Stitchers Quilt Guild! The group aims to promote the art and history of quilting, focusing on African American traditions. It is active in the community and regularly donates handmade quilts to children in foster care and those suffering from Sickle Cell Anemia.
Description: Children who attend will learn more about the history of quilting, meet some of the quilters, and experience the show-and-tell portion of their meeting. Children 8 and older will have the opportunity to sew. Children 7 and under will use an iron-on option. Brown Sugar quilters will be available to assist both groups, and children will leave with a piece they created.
Program:
1. Short introduction about the guild
2. Questions and Answers
3. Show and Tell
4. Student activity
The guild members look forward to a fun time with our children!
