Join us for a fun and educational event at the Heritage Homeschoolers World Geography Fair, where families take the lead in bringing the world to life! Each student, sibling set, or family will host a display table representing a country of their choice, offering an opportunity to share its unique history, culture, and geography. Your family can participate and/or just come to "visit the various countries!
Families arrive & set up their tables - 12:30 -1:00 PM (WE ARE IN NEED OF EXTRA TABLES...if you can bring a table, please sign up for the "I CAN BRING A TABLE" slot on the Signup Genius)
Event begins (1:00 PM) - Please don't wait to arrive until this time because we're going to begin right at 1PM.
FOLLOW THIS LINK TO SIGN-UP HERE with your desired country: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4FA8AF2BA3F4C43-51771451-heritage
How does this work? Each participating family will choose a country to research, create a display board or another presentation format, and set it up at a table along with any other interesting materials. Families can be prepared to share interesting facts, wear cultural clothing, show photos or drawings of landmarks, play music, lead a quick craft, play a game, give food samples (Always a hit! NO PEANUTS PLEASE), share a coloring sheet, etc. Feel free to share as much or as little as you'd like! SEE LINKS BELOW for many more creative ideas & inspiration, and here are photos from past Heritage geography fairs.
Each child is presented with a "passport" upon arrival and they will take turns going around the room to receive a stamp or sticker in their passport at each table after learning about each country. PLEASE BRING STICKERS, A STAMP/INK, OR SPECIAL MARKER to "stamp" the passports of those who visit your table.
Invite friends, family, neighbors, and other homeschoolers to visit the fair!
Cost: FREE
PLEASE EMAIL: Please send a headshot of your child to HeritageCobb@gmail.com by 11/1. Include your child's first & last name in the email. This will go in his/her passport to prevent the passports from getting mixed up.
Homeschooling Benefits of a Geography Fair:
Your family will learn about another place and culture.
Your student will interact with people of all ages–answering questions, sharing interesting information, and even learning from some of the people attending the fair.
Family and friends will see that your student really does do something all day (other than drink smoothies in their pajamas) and that there are other crazy homeschooling families out there, too (who also really do something during the day!).
Non-participating friends & visitors attending the Geography Fair will learn about many different countries.
Your students will also learn about (and become interested in) many cultures & countries as they visit the displays of other homeschoolers.
With your guidance, your students will learn the basics of research and planning as you work together to make this project a reality.
