By purchasing a partnership or plan and/or registering for any TLCC classes or events, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms and policies outlined below.

The Legacy Code
We are committed to fostering a nurturing, safe, and culturally enriching environment where families can grow, learn, and connect. In alignment with our mission, these standards serve as the foundation for community acceptance and continued participation in our co-op. They reflect our commitment to respect, responsibility, and community values. Failure to uphold these standards may result in dismissal from the program.

General Expectations for All Participants
All TLCC members (parents, young scholars, and caregivers) are expected to:

Treat others with kindness and respect at all times.
-
Refrain from obscene language, name-calling, insults, or inappropriate gestures.
-
Avoid behavior that could harm themselves, others, or property.
-
Respect others’ personal space and belongings.
-
Maintain cleanliness in all shared areas and help preserve the integrity of the campus.

Respect the facility, recognizing it is a house of worship, regardless of personal beliefs.
Young Scholar Standards
Young scholars are expected to:

Attend all scheduled classes and arrive on time.
-
Use class time purposefully, staying engaged and respectful.
-
Make the most of their time on campus by actively connecting with peers.
-
Be welcoming and inclusive, fostering a sense of belonging and building meaningful relationships.
Parent & Guardian Standards
Parents or designated caregivers must:

Be present on-site for the duration of their child's participation in co-op activities.
-
Supervise their children during non-class times, including lunch and recess.
-
Assist with the flow of daily activities and tasks by pitching in whenever needed.
-
Support consistent attendance and active participation.
-
Take an active role in maintaining community standards by addressing misconduct appropriately, directly, and in the moment, involving the necessary TLCC leaders.

Embrace the spirit of “being the village” by encouraging a safe, accountable, and respectful environment for all children.
Facility Use Standards
TLCC families are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that respects and preserves the facility and campus and occupy only the areas designated under our lease agreement. Entering or using unauthorized spaces is strictly prohibited. Violations of this policy may result in immediate dismissal from the program. Any cost associated with accidental or intentional property damage will become the financial obligation of the participant who caused the damage.
Communication & Staying Informed
All TLCC participants are expected to:

Stay informed by regularly checking emails, newsletters, website updates, and app alerts.

Communicate proactively regarding:

Absences, late arrivals, or emergencies

Significant family or life changes that may impact participation

Personal boundaries or needs that help support your family’s success at TLCC

Clear, open communication ensures a stronger, more connected community for everyone.
Grounds for Dismissal
Participation in TLCC programming may be revoked for:
-
Repeated or serious violations of behavioral standards.
-
Disrespectful or disruptive conduct that compromises the learning environment.
-
Failure to supervise children appropriately or to fulfill community expectations.
-
Unauthorized use of campus areas or disregard for TLCC’s facility agreement.
-
Consistent failure to uphold the cooperative values and spirit of the TLCC community.
-
Failure to remit payment for class tuition or volunteer-associated contribution and/or fees.
Commitment to Cultural Excellence
As part of TLCC, families join a community that uplifts and centers Black culture and heritage while fostering collaboration with the broader community. We aim to shape well-rounded, confident young scholars equipped with life skills, self-awareness, and a strong cultural identity.
Class Policies
Class Cancellations by Individuals
-
Class changes are allowed without penalty if the class has not met its minimum enrollment or if the request is made during the general registration period.
-
If the class minimum is met and a change is requested during general registration, a refund of the difference between the original and new class will be issued.
-
No refunds are given for class cancellations during late registration or after registration has closed.
-
All cancellation requests must follow the steps outlined in the “Request to Cancel a Class” video.
Class Cancellations by TLCC
-
If TLCC cancels a class, a partial or full refund will be issued based on the class tuition and the number of sessions canceled.
Class Drop Policy
-
Young scholars who do not attend a class for two consecutive weeks will be automatically dropped without a refund.
Make-Up Policy
-
Make-up classes are not offered for missed sessions.
-
For outdoor classes, if inclement weather begins during class, sessions will move indoors. Refunds will not be issued for weather-related changes.
Age Restrictions & Enrollment

Classes are designed for specific age ranges to support peer interaction and safety.

Enrollment may be denied for:
-
Vendor age restrictions
-
Readiness concerns (physical maturity, independence, skill level)
-
Safety risks involving older peers or specialized equipment
-

Priority is given to young scholars within the recommended age range.
Disciplinary Policy
Many families choose to homeschool their children for a variety of reasons. However, The Legacy Collective Community strives to create a wholesome and safe environment conducive to creativity, learning, and fun for their families.
Student Disciplinary Protocol
We operate on the following “Three Strikes” disciplinary action plan.
Strike One

The teacher/Adult in charge will talk with the student about his/her misbehavior, the parent will be notified.
Strike Two
-
The teacher/Adult in charge will talk with the student about his/her misbehavior, and the student will be required to sit with the parent for the remainder of the class and/or day.
Strike Three
-
The teacher/Adult in charge and The Legacy Collective leadership will meet with the parent and student regarding the misbehavior, at which time a disciplinary decision will be determined.
Immediate dismissal from The Legacy Collective without refund will be administered for the following offenses:

Any verbal harassment and/or attacks
-
Physical assault
-
Vandalism of any kind
-
Bullying, threats, and/or intimidation towards others
-
Unsafe conduct regarding a younger children
-
Inappropriate touch
-
Theft
-
Being in possession of weapons, illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, tobacco products, vape pens, or alcoholic beverages
Registration Periods & Policies
General Registration: June 8–22, 2025
-
Standard enrollment period for all eligible families.
-
Class changes are allowed without financial penalty if:
-
The class has not met its minimum enrollment, or
-
The change is requested before general registration ends.
-

If a class change is requested before general registration ends and the enrollment minimum has been met, a refund of the difference between the original and new class will be issued.
Late Registration: June 23–29, 2025
-
Final opportunity to register; space is limited.
-
No refunds will be issued for class cancellations or changes during this period.
Open Seat Registration: September 1–7, 2025
-
Enrollment for any remaining class spots; open to existing TLCC families only.
-
Tuition for classes registered during this period will be $25 higher.
-
Subject to space availability—no guaranteed placement.
-
No refunds for any class tuition after this period closes.
Refund & Fee Policy

No refunds will be issued for class tuition after the general and late registration periods have ended.
-
No refunds will be given for any purchased partnerships, plans, or registration fees after purchase, regardless of class enrollment availability.
Volunteer Policy
The Legacy Collective Community is truly a cooperative effort in that every family shares some level of responsibility to ensure its success. A high level of parent participation is expected. All families participating in our program are required to fulfill their volunteer requirement per their partnership or plan.

Additional volunteering is welcomed and appreciated
Note: Only one adult per family is required to volunteer, regardless of how many students are enrolled. Some roles may be fulfilled by mature high schoolers on behalf of their family.
Teamwork Contribution:
While we strongly encourage—and rely on—all families to volunteer as part of our contributor culture model, we understand that life circumstances may arise that make it difficult to fulfill a Teamwork Duty.
If you're unable to meet the expectations of your partnership, a monetary contribution may be extended or expected in place of service. However, we are committed to supporting our families and will do our best to work with anyone facing challenges that impact their ability to participate. Our goal is to ensure every family feels valued and supported while maintaining the health and sustainability of the collective.

TLCC Teamwork Duties & Responsibilities
The following duties and responsibilities apply specifically to participants of the TLCC class days.
Parent On Duty (Adults only)
Duties include:

Monitor entrances/exits and admit authorized individuals only

Supervise hallways, bathrooms, and classroom areas
-
Enforce the student Code of Conduct as needed
-
Ensure students and parents remain in designated areas
-
Confirm classrooms are empty during lunch/recess and end-of-day
-
Follow TLCC's Disciplinary Protocol for any incidents
Welcome Table (Adults, High School & Mature Middle School students)
Duties include:

Greet and check in families
-
Answer general questions

Direct third-party vendors to the appropriate areas

Distribute volunteer materials
Lunch Duty (Adults, High School & Mature Middle School students)
Duties include:

Set up additional tables/chairs as needed

Wipe down lunch tables and chairs

Vacuum or sweep lunch areas

Recess Monitor (Adults only)
Duties include:

Set up and store recess equipment

Supervise children during outdoor play

Facility Cleaning (Adults, High School & Mature Middle School students)
Duties include:

Clean tables, chairs, and kitchen surfaces

Collect and dispose of trash

Sweep/vacuum classrooms, halls, and shared spaces as needed

Wipe down bathroom counters and restock supplies

Follow the Disciplinary Protocol if needed
Community Service Leads (Adults only)
Duties include:

Lead age-specific community service projects for one of the following groups:

Community Assembly Assistant (Adults only)
Duties include:

Help plan and coordinate monthly Community Day assemblies/events

Attend 2–3 Zoom planning meetings (1 may be in person)

Teamwork Duty, Accountability Policy
How to Reschedule or Notify of Absence
If you're unable to fulfill your scheduled duty, you must either:

Include your name, role, and either a new proposed date or the name of your replacement

Notification must be sent at least 48 hours before your assigned duty.

Failure to reschedule or communicate will result in the following outlined penalties.
Legacy Day: No-Show Policy
-
Failure to fulfill your three (3) assigned roles on Legacy Day without prior notice will result in loss of eligibility to register for the following semester.
Community Day: No-Show Policy
-
Failure to fulfill your one (1) assigned role on Community Day without prior notice will result in loss of eligibility to attend the next Community Day.

Parent/Student-Teachers
& TLCC Support Team
Parent /Student-Teacher Volunteers
Parent and Student-Teachers who are leading a class on Legacy or Community Day are still required to serve during one pre-assigned Facility Duty day. Below is a description of the tasks and responsibilities for volunteer Parent/Student-Teacher Leads.
Volunteer Lead Teacher:

Approximate time commitment: Hours vary between 9:50 am – 3:30 pm

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

Plan & prep all class activities and projects

Attend August & January Teachers Collaborative meetings

Setting up supplies for class
-
Monitoring and assisting students during class activities

Tidying the room in preparation for the next class
-
Follow the Disciplinary Policy for any student misbehavior

TLCC Support Team
Parents who serve in a TLCC Volunteer Support role for the homeschool year are only required to complete one (1) teamwork duty per semester, provided they are not also teaching or performing other on-site responsibilities related to their team role.

Health Policy
Volunteers, staff, parents, and/or students should NOT attend The Legacy Collective with any of the following symptoms:
-
Excessive coughing and/or runny nose
-
Diarrhea or vomiting
-
Fever ( a measured temperature of at least 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher)
-
Head lice
-
Undiagnosed rash, sore, or other skin condition
-
Any other contagious disease or symptom, including but not limited to COVID-19 or Influenza
A child must be diarrhea, vomiting, and fever-free for a full 24 hours before returning to The Legacy Collective Community or any of its hosted events..
Waiver Of Liability &
Hold Harmless Agreement
For and in consideration of my participation in any program, class, event, or activity organized by The Legacy Collective Community (TLCC), I do hereby enter into the following covenant:
I agree not to sue The Legacy Collective Community, its volunteer staff, officers, directors, agents, or assignees for any reason arising from my participation in such activities.
This covenant not to sue shall be binding upon myself, my heirs, the administrator or executor of my estate, or any others acting on behalf of myself or my estate. It is expressly understood that this covenant is entered into to avoid litigation and is a prerequisite for participation in TLCC activities. This covenant shall serve as a legal defense to any action or proceeding brought by me, my heirs, executors, administrators, or others acting on my behalf against any of the above-named parties.
I expressly assume all risks and hazards associated with TLCC activities and take full responsibility, including financial responsibility, for any injury—including death—I may incur while participating in or being present at TLCC programs or on its premises.
This waiver applies to, but is not limited to, any acts of negligence—whether by omission or commission—of any type, kind, or nature.
I hereby affirm that I am legally competent to contract and that I have read and fully understand this Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement. I am entering into it voluntarily.
I also affirm that I am legally authorized to agree on behalf of my child(ren) and/or those under my guardianship, and I agree to hold harmless The Legacy Collective Community in the event of any accident, injury, or illness experienced by myself or those in my care during participation in TLCC activities, against claims brought by any party.
As a parent or guardian, I acknowledge and agree to the terms of this agreement. I understand that failure to comply with the TLCC Code of Conduct may result in dismissal from the program. I have explained these policies to my child(ren) and/or designated caregiver(s), and they fully understand and agree to abide by them during all TLCC activities.
